Report: Cowboys WR Lucky Whitehead Arrested For Shoplifting

Receiver Dez Bryant was admittedly close with Whitehead, but he understood the decision the Cowboys had to make.

Whitehead failed to appear for his arraignment for the incident on July 6, which led to a subsequent charge, according to police records.

According to the report, Whitehead was arrested in Prince William County, Va., back in June for shoplifting/petit larceny under $200. That's because he had no idea the court date was ever scheduled. Another court date was set for August 10.

Whitehead played football for Osbourn, attended Florida Atlantic University and joined the Dallas Cowboys in 2015. Furthemore, his lawyer says the receiver wasn't even in the state of Virginia when the arrest is said to have taken place.

It's been a rough couple of weeks for Whitehead, who also recently had his dog stolen, and later returned.

Whitehead's off-field incident is only the tip of the iceberg for the Cowboys.

When Whitehead was asked about the arrest on Monday, he seemed to be in the dark about what was going on.

This is not the first, or last, that Whitehead will be heard from this offseason.

The message, however, was received differently by Cowboys players as they walked off the field after their final practice Monday on the first day of training camp.

Running back Ezekiel Elliott was involved in an incident at a Dallas bar on July 16 that left a man with a nose injury. He has rushed 20 times for 189 yards and caught nine passes for 64 yards. Per NFL.com's Jane Slater, Jerry Jones and the Cowboys are releasing Whitehead.
