Switzerland chainsaw attack

Switzerland chainsaw attack

Five people are injured, two severely, after a man reportedly went on a rampage with a chainsaw in a Swiss town. They do, however, believe the unidentified suspect is "dangerous" and have therefore placed much of central Schaffhausen on lock down until further notice.

Crime scene investigators search for evidence after police sealed off the old town of Schaffhausen after the attack.

Schaffhausen was sent into lockdown after the unnamed man attacked shoppers - leaving two with serious injuries.

A manhunt is underway in Switzerland after a chainsaw attack left five people injured Monday.

The perpetrator had fled by the time police arrived. Swiss police have ruled out terrorism.

Police had recovered a vehicle sought in connection with the incident, which they said was apparently the work of the single suspect.

"We can confirm that a man with a chainsaw came into the agency and seriously wounded two of our employees", Christina Wettstein, a spokeswoman for insurer CSS, said.

Mr Wrousis was previously registered as living in Graubuenden, in Switzerland's south-east.

Sticher described him as a 190 centimeter-tall (6 feet 2 inches tall) bald white man, while police described him as a man of "untidy appearance".

Authorities were first alerted about the attack in the old quarter of Schaffhausen at 10:39 am (0839 GMT), the ATS news agency said. He chatted with her once when he was having breakfast.
