Hungarian PM calls on European Union to restore 'common sense' in Israel policy

Hungary's Orban: Collaboration with Nazis was mistake, sin

Netanyahu made the remarks after holding talks with leaders from the so-called Visegrad Four group - Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic - whose nationalist anti-immigration stances have also put them increasingly at odds with Brussels.

Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu and Hungary's Viktor Orban both said relations should be reassessed as Israel was being criticized in Brussels while playing a stabilizing role in the Middle East, which benefited Europe.

"Once again, we should reiterate our acknowledgement towards Israel for what it does for the security of Europe", Orban says in a joint appearance with Netanyahu and three other prime ministers from European Union member states in Central Europe. "We built the wall because there was a problem with ISIS and Iran trying to build a terror front there".

Netanyahu continued to drive home his point by saying that Israel enjoyed strong relations with India and China without any preconditions. "Europe is undermining its progress by undermining its connection with Israeli innovation by a insane attempt to create conditions", he said. "Once again we reiterate our acknowledgement towards Israel for what it does for the security of Europe, in the future we would propose that the cooperation between the European Union and Israel becomes better", he said.

He also said that potential cooperation between Israel and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe were possible in the fields of water management and cyber security.

It has been a vocal critic of Israel's settlement construction and has adopted measures mandating the labelling of goods produced in West Bank settlements.

'Planet of the Apes' topples 'Spider-Man' in weekend debut
This weekend's top ten was down 21% from last week and was practically dead even with the top ten from one year ago. The arrival of War for the Planet of the Apes may have also been a contributing factor into the hefty decrease.

"There is an anomaly, we are often criticised by western Europe, often more than any other place in the world. The only ones! Nobody does it", Netanyahu reportedly said. The press conference emphasized Israel's willingness to share its technological and security know-how, as Netanyahu looks for friends on an often hostile continent. The reason for that, he said, was Israel's prowess in technology.

Israel has blocked off its border to Syria, where regime forces fight a US-led alliance of Kurdish and Arab fighters.

The hot-mic transmission was discovered and shut down "within a few minutes", Haaretz reported.

"We share Israel's notion of protecting external borders", said Orban whose government has erected fences on its southern European Union frontiers to keep out illegal asylum-seekers.

Federica Mogherini, the EU's high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, said last month that the regime's decision to build more than 3,000 new settlement units in the West Bank "was illegal under worldwide law".
