Rifleman Vimal Finjani of Gorkha Rifles was killed when the Pakistan Army violated the 2003 ceasefire in Naugam sector of the LoC.

An Indian army soldier was also killed on Tuesday afternoon along the LoC in northern Kashmir.

The Indian jawans strongly retaliated to the firing, an Army spokesperson said.

Two Indian soldiers were killed on Tuesday as the Pakistan Army resorted to heavy shelling and firing along several areas of the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, leading authorities to shut down schools and ask civilians to move to safer places in Rajouri district. He said that around 11 students were trapped in Sair middle school, 50 students at Sair high school and another 150 students in Bhawani high school.

Meanwhile, India said two suspected separatists and an Indian soldier were killed in held Kashmir along the de facto border, where the two sides traded fire for a second day.

In a major rescue operation launched by the District Administration and Police 217 students and around 15 teachers were rescued from three schools in the wake of heavy mortar shelling along LoC in Nowshera sub-division of district Rajouri. There is another school where students are now kept inside the school due to the heavy shelling.

The 24-year-old sepoy hailed from Talwandi in Moga district of Punjab and leaves behind his parents, he said. In Uri, a soldier and two civilians were injured during heavy exchange of fire with Pakistan.

There has a rise in incidents where Pakistan is targeting the civilians in Poonch and Nowshera sector for some time now.

The Pakistani Army initiated unprovoked firing in Bhimber Gali and Poonch sectors along the LoC, Defence Ministry spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta said.

The official said Sair school was badly damaged due to Pakistani troops shelling.
