Schefter said Elliott still has to respond to the NFL's findings and the report it sent him on its investigation, and that there's a chance the running back could miss one and possibly two games.

The Cowboys and most of those covering the National Football League thought there would be no punishment handed down after it was revealed that Elliott allegedly had proof his accuser asked a friend to lie for her, but that assumption took a twist with a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

In an investigation that has spanned almost a year, the NFL appears to be closing in on some sort of resolution involving Elliott and a possible violation of the league's personal conduct policy. He may not be worth a top-five selection in fantasy drafts with a potential suspension looming, but Zeke remains an elite RB1 heading into his second National Football League season.

Officer Olden said people first though the note was a joke , but someone eventually took it seriously and called police . Due to the unusual situation, police couldn't classify the incident as a crime, so they freed the man and let him go.

Elliott has been under investigation by the league since July of a year ago after his ex-girlfriend accused him of domestic violence. She alleged Elliott attacked her while they were in a vehicle.

She was identified as his girlfriend at that time and alleged that Elliott attacked her while they were sitting in her vehicle. The district attorney in Columbus, Ohio opted not to file charges due to conflicting information gathered during its investigation. In his rookie season, the running back led the league with 1,631 yards on 322 carries past year, scoring 15 touchdowns.

He burst onto the scene with an NFL-leading 1,631 rushing yards to go along with 15 rushing touchdowns and 32 receptions for 363 yards and one touchdown through the air. He made the NFL All-Pro first team for his efforts.
