Aston Martin Vulcan receives aero upgrades from AMR

Aston Martin has set out to make its already bonkers Vulcan even more lethal. The 820-horsepower track special is now available with a high-downforce package developed by the new AMR sub-brand.

"I'm not exactly sure why they feel they have to do this.it's already a attractive car.it's like trying to make an already handsome woman even more lovely". The Aston Martin Vulcan is one of the fastest and rarest cars in the world today, and it's a model that's simply bursting with superlatives.

As if the super-expensive, super-exclusive track auto wasn't extreme enough, the AMR Pro pack includes "aerodynamic enhancements" that include vented wheelarch panels, turning vanes in the front splitter, massive dive planes and an all-new rear wing. AM lightly contextualizes the figure to 3104Nm that the 2017 Le Mans-winning Vantage GTE produces.

Aston Martin hasn't officially revealed when the Vulcan will hit customers' driveways, but it says it will be sometime in the fall. New dive planes generate further downforce, and the whole clamshell engine cover is now 5kg lighter than it was before.

Richie Porte tipped to win Tour de France 2017
I've beaten him in the races I've done so far, but that doesn't count for anything once you get to July 1, that's another level. Asked about being described as the favourite by Froome and Team Sky, Porte replied: "It's just one of the games they play".

Aston Martin reckons that the overall downforce has been increased from the original 3150Nm to an impressive 4000Nm. This, plus new wing endplates that sport additional 15mm Gurneys has helped boost downforce by 27 per cent.

These changes have helped bring the "centre of pressure" forwards and closer to the centre of the auto, which Aston says should improve traction, steering response and front-end grip.

Aston Martin's racing works driver, Darren Turner, said: "When we first conceived the Aston Martin Vulcan it was to create something that expressed Aston Martin's wilder side". By increasing the overall level of downforce front and rear, but also improving the balance of the vehicle we've done just that. And so the Aston Martin Vulcan AMR Pro was born.

"I can't wait to see the customers' faces when they experience it for themselves!"
