'The Accountant' Sequel: Ben Affleck in Talks to Return

While Ben Affleck is understandably busy with his work in the DCEU, both as part of Justice League, as well as on his own solo Batman movie, it seems as if the actor had a lot of fun working on The Accountant.

Affleck, screenwriter Bill Dubuque, and director Gavin O'Connor are now in talks with the studio about returning for a follow-up film.

Affleck directed, wrote, produced, and starred in last year's Warner Bros. period thriller "Live by Night", but that project underperformed with only $22 million in worldwide box office on a $65 million budget.

Andressian told investigators he had ingested a prescription medication that wasn't his own that morning, deputies said. Investigators have said that Andressian had provided authorities with "inconsistent" and "misleading" statements.

Producers Lynette Howell Taylor and Mark Williams are also circling the proposed sequel. The film's slow-burn character study ultimately ended in the big twist reveal that Affleck's Christian Wolff had a brother (Jon Bernthal's "Brax") who was also a top assassin. However, one such assignment makes Chris, along with a robotics company's accountant (Anna Kendrick), the target of the long arm of the federal law and a malevolent corporate conspiracy.

Speaking with CS shortly before the original film's release, O'Connor was optimistic about the chances for an Accountant sequel.

The first film grossed $155 million. O'Connor is also developing with Imperative Entertainment the WWII thriller Atlantic Wall for Bradley Cooper to star in.

Director Matt Reeves has confirmed that Ben Affleck is still set to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming standalone feature The Batman. Thus, news of a sequel is a surprising, but nonetheless exciting, development.
