CNN reporter shreds 'stonewalling' White House — and says Sean Spicer is 'just kind of useless'

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer is set to take on a new role overseeing communications for the Trump administration, Fox Business reported on Monday.

Spicer is now doing double duty as press secretary and communications director after the previous communications director, Michael Dubke, resigned May 30.

Shortly after Comey was terminated from his position, Trump hinted in a tweet that their conversations may have been recorded and that Comey should therefore avoid leaking to the press. Mike Dubke, who had been in that job for less than three months, resigned in May.

"We have sought input from many people as we look to expand our communications operation". The president has both praised and castigated Spicer for his performances at the briefing room podium but has never told him he was in danger of being fired. The changes will begin to roll out in the near future, the White House indicated.

Spicer's press briefings are increasingly done off-camera, including Monday.

'Scalise took a bullet for all of us'
The assailant had nursed grievances against President Donald Trump and the GOP - and was shot by police and later died. They also signed oversized cards sending well wishes to those who were injured in the shooting, including Rep.

On May 12, three days after he fired Comey, Trump said the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director better hope that there are no "tapes" of their conversations before Comey starts leaking to the press.

"The White House press secretary is getting to a point. where he is just kinda useless", Acosta said. The announcement was made without any supporting communications plan, such as arranging surrogates who would defend the decision on cable television.

And he also speculated the White House might think its responses to reporters' questions are more palatable when not recorded.

To honor this moment in Spicer's career, we've edited together Spicer's most...uh...memorable moments from behind the podium.
