In a separate incident, a terrorist was killed following encounter between holed up terrorists and security forces in Arwani village of Bijbehara in Anantnag district.

The Police say the attack could be retaliation to an encounter that took place earlier today in Anantnag where a Lashkar-e Taiba terrorist Junaid Mattoo who was trapped in a building is believed to have been killed.

"Some of the militants also fired from within the crowd indiscriminately on the security forces", he said.

In the afternoon, two civilians were injured after army allegedly opened fire on the vehicle they were travelling on in Bandipora district of north Kashmir on Friday. While the government forces were trying to lay cordon of the village, young men hit roads and threw stones and brickbats towards policemen, apparently in a bid to help militants break through the siege.

Expressing concern over the killing of six police personnel in terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag, defence experts on Saturday said the death of the policemen comes as a major setback. The cop was rushed to a local hospital but he did not survive.
