Fox News Is Ditching 'Fair & Balanced' as Its Slogan

In an obituary, Fox News rival CNN wrote that Alies "ruled Fox with an iron fist".

The Fox News Channel quietly dropped its "Fair and Balanced" slogan previous year in an effort to move beyond the era of its former chairman and CEO, Roger Ailes.

The "Fair & Balanced" era is over at Fox News Channel. But apparently it had to be retired, having been mocked to death by those mean old liberals. Another executive explained that the tagline was "too closely associated with Roger". A banner that doesn't toe the party line?

Inside Fox, Ailes held "Fair & Balanced" seminars with staff members. A job candidate who went to one'a those liberal arts schools?

'He would say, "The news is like a ship".

The new slogan is actually true, Fox News has always been the most watched cable news network for more than a decade.

The move is the latest sign that Fox News is busy rebuilding its identity in the wake of Ailes' departure, along with the high-profile exits of anchors Megyn Kelly (who left to join NBC News) and Bill O'Reilly (who was sacked following his own sexual-harassment scandal). But "Fair & Balanced" definitely was best known, and most mockable.

In the annals of modern advertising, "Fair & Balanced" will be considered a classic.

Last July, Ailes resigned as chairman and CEO of Fox News after a number of current and former female employees came forward to accuse him of sexual harassment.

New York Magazine reported Fox News co-president Jack Abernethy made the final decision to cut the slogan, largely because the tagline had become an easy target for critics and had been mocked.
