Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor might have a date for their fight

Whether the date is August 26 or another night that works, Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor are inching closer to making their boxing match official.

The Las Vegas venue has yet to be confirmed, but the two likely choices are the MGM Grand, which is the traditional home to all of Mayweather's most recent fights, or the new T-Mobile Arena. McGregor had recently obtained a boxing license in California, and is expected to get one in Nevada for a fight with Mayweather. It is unclear whether it was a mistake or whether McGregor did it on goal, as he is known to provoke his opponents. Both fighters will wear 10-ounce boxing gloves.

In mid-February, when hype about the fight intensified, the Westgate SuperBook made Mayweather a giant -2,500 favorite, with McGregor paying back 1,100. Purse speculation has both fighters earning in excess of $100 million.

He will put his 49-0 professional boxing record on the line, with most experts expecting him to be too boxing savvy for McGregor.

The highly-anticipated rematch will take place June 17th at the Mandalay Bay Casino & Resort in Las Vegas, according to multiple reports.

Sessions' testimony to Congress Tuesday to be open to public
Attorney General Jeff Sessions says he wants his testimony before the Senate intelligence committee to be open to the public. He had told lawmakers at his January confirmation hearing that he had not met with Russians during the campaign.

That initial August 26 date may well have been on the cards, or could still be, whilst Mayweather's love of being the first to make anything bearing his own name official, may well see the bout switched to another date.

The backhanded compliment was obviously a shot from McGregor at Mayweather's advancing age as they continue to negotiate for a fight between the two of them that could be one of the most lucrative events in combat sports history.

"If that's the date they're going to fight, I'm pretty sure that's going to be a good date for the fight", The young pugilist Newman said.

Neither UFC president Dana White, Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe or Showtime's Stephen Espinoza could be reached for comment.

Earlier this month, boxing icon Mike Tyson weighed-in on the potential McGregor/Mayweather bout.
