Sandeep Dikshit dubs Army chief 'sadak ka goonda', apologizes

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi today condemned his party leader Sandeep Dikhshit's remarks against Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, terming it "completely wrong". "The Army protects the country and a politician should not comment about the chief", Rahul said at a Karnataka Congress members' general body meeting. "The Indian army works for the nation, safeguards our nation and the person who leads the army, their chief, no politician should not comment about him", he added.

On Sunday, Dikshit said the army chief shouldn't make statements like a "sadak ka gunda" referring to his recent statements.

Reacting to the Dikshit's "Sadak Ka Gooda" comment BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra had also demanded an apology from Sonia Gandhi and Dikshit's expulsion from the Congress.

"There is no sense of apology in his tweets". Congress functionaries had repeatedly made comments which targeted institutions, the minister said. They have questioned army's integrity.

Gandhi further said that the Indian Army serves the nation and, therefore, no political statements should be made against them.

From there, the popcorn-eating masses got to enjoy lots of Twitter shade and Swift's " Bad Blood ", which is about the whole beef. Fans of the pop stars started going insane when they realized that Perry's album was also going live at exactly the same moment.

Earlier, several BJP leaders demanded an apology from the Congress.

"I was told by someone that a Congress leader has said something against the Army chief and I believe that the leader was wrong in doing so", Rahul Gandhi said.

Dikshit's comments on the army chief drew flak from Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju. How dare Congress call Indian Army Chief as "Sadak Ka Gunda". "So I apologise for it and withdraw my statement", he said. "While this is expected from Pakistan, who are like the mafia, why does our own chief make such pronouncements?" Then, I would have been happy. If I had to say something of this kind, there was a different language and manner in which I should have said it.

She said the Congress leadership must apologise.
