Until now, Tony Award-winner Daveed Diggs (Hamilton) was the only announced actor.

Snowpiercer is based on Bong Joon-ho's superb film of the same name, though this appears to be more of a retelling than a spinoff.

The hourlong drama pilot, directed by Doctor Strange helmer Scott Derrickson, is set seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, and the remnants of humanity inhabit a huge, perpetually moving train that circles the globe.

Bangladesh commences mass evacuation campaign ahead of 'Cyclone Mora'
On Tuesday they hit the southern Indian state of Kerala, from where the will sweep across the country over the coming months. The cyclone is believed to have destroyed refugee camps housing Rohingya Muslims who are fleeing persecution in Myanmar.

With Snowpiercer's uniquely stylized dystopic premise, coupled with its overt political themes of class division and a putrid pathos focused on the sinking depths of the human condition, there will certainly be much with which to work when it comes to a prospective ongoing television series. Unlike the other people who are in the same class, Melanie is fascinated by those who belong in the lower class, according to TV Line.

Sumner joins Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs in the series. Bong Joon-ho, meanwhile, is attached to executive produce alongside Derrickson. More recently, she starred opposite Ewan McGregor in American Pastoral, which marked McGregor's directorial debut, and Shelter, written, directed and co-starring A Beautiful Mind's Paul Bettany. Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange) will direct the pilot from a script by Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles creator Josh Friedman. Revolutionary change - or at least the threat of it - is a staple of the dystopian genre, and both Melanie Cavill and Layton Well are bound to find their disparate lives changed as the unfair social system of the Snowpiercer threatens to grind to a halt. She'll also be seen in the manga adaptation Alita: Battle Angel next year.

Snowpiercer grossed $86.7 million during its theatrical release.
