Dialogue with Trump was non-politicised: Russian FM

President Donald Trump met Wednesday with two Kremlin officials at the White House, the highest level meet between the two nations since the new administration took office.

While not unprecedented, it is a rare privilege for a foreign minister to be received by a USA president for a bilateral meeting in the White House.

A USA official and a person knowledgeable of the plans are describing what would be the highest level, face-to-face contact with Russian Federation of Trump's presidency.

The meeting came a day after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, who had been in charge of the investigation into any ties between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign, CBS News reported.

POLITICO notes that Trump considered firing Comey for over a week as he grew enraged over the Russian Federation investigation, according to two unidentified advisors.

However, Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores said that report was "totally false", and Comey's request "did not happen".

With tensions high after the United States launched a missile strike in Syria, a Russian ally, last month, Trump knew he would have to appear friendly - but not too friendly, since the FBI is investigating whether Trump's campaign might have colluded with Russia to meddle in last year's election.

The picture of Trump and Ambassador Sergey Kislyak was shot a day after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey. Many are speculating the sacking was linked to the FBI investigations into Trump's links with Russian Federation. The same FBI that was leading the investigation into the Trump campaign and administration's connections to Russian Federation.

The State Department says Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov (SEHR'-gay LAHV'-rahf) are affirming their support for United Nations -led talks to resolve the Syrian crisis. Vershbow said frequent dialogue between Tillerson and Lavrov on these complex issues is crucial.

Nuclear Waste Tunnel Collapses in Washington State
The incident created some concern on Twitter as people tried to process information and determine whether it was a threat to them. About 8,000 workers are now working on a massive cleanup that is expected to cost more than $100 billion and last through 2060.

Mr Lavrov added that the Trump administration were "people of action" and that they wanted to resolve important issues.

To add to the unusual optics, American media were denied access - the limited access White House pool reporters and photojournalists get to the start or ending minutes of such meetings - and the first pictures of Trump with Lavrov and Kislyak were released by the Russian foreign ministry.

The Russian Foreign Ministry tweeted a photo of Trump and Lavrov shaking hands in the Oval Office, and another of Trump and Kislyak.

Russian Federation denies the allegations.

Lavrov did speak during brief photo op with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Wednesday morning.

"Was he fired? You're kidding!"

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov (SEHR'-gay LAHV'-rahf) says it's "humiliating" for the American people to hear that Russia is controlling the political situation in the United States.

Russia Probes have posed the biggest threat to Trump administration having already led to a number of repercussions.

Wednesday's meetings followed talks Tillerson held with Putin last month in Moscow. That assessment came after Syrian forces launched a chemical-weapons attack against civilians, and Mr. Trump responded with missile strikes on a Syrian military base also used by Russian personnel.
