A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lifts off on a supply mission to the International Space Station

The leftover booster — its job done — landed next door at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station several minutes after liftoff. Following successful demonstration of the technology, SpaceX intends to begin the operational satellite launch campaign in 2019. No details were shared about the newly launched NRO satellite.

Elon Musk's Space Exploration Technologies launched a sensitive mission for the U.S. military and landed the rocket's booster on land, marking the company's fifth successful mission of 2017.

Musk is leading an effort in the rocket industry to re-use costly parts rather than jettison them into the ocean after each launch.

A Falcon 9 rocket is carrying NROL-76, a classified payload for the National Reconnaissance Office.

"And we have touchdown", a SpaceX commentator said on a live webcast as cheers broke out at mission control.

5 possible opponents for Anthony Joshua's next fight
Joshua has continued his impressive KO streak as he has won all of his fights by KO. "I came back and I fought my heart out". Klitschko seemed to be on his way to edging a points victory before a thunderous uppercut from Joshua stopped him dead.

The second video (below) shows a zoomed out version of the rocket coming to land. SpaceX strives to return most of its first-stage boosters for reuse. SpaceX had made the first attempt to launch the satellite on Sunday but it was foiled at the last minute reportedly due to a bad sensor. In short, the fact that SpaceX launched a rocket and brought it back is old news.

Tasked with designing, building, launching, and maintaining intelligence satellites, the National Reconnaissance Office, opened in 1961, describes itself as the country's "eyes and ears in critical places where no human can reach-be it over the most rugged terrain or through the most hostile territory".

The next NRO launch is expected to be conducted on 14 August from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, US. The contract was first announced past year.

Space X has also won two more contracts from the US Air Force to send up Global Positioning System satellites in 2018 an 2019.
