A nationalist activist was under investigation by the FBI when he killed his roommate, shot his neighbor, shot a Dallas firefighter and then turned the gun on himself, according to police. Police sent in a robot to have a look and found two bodies, Brown and another unidentified person.

Mayor Rawlings said Monday afternoon, "I am pleased to report our DFR paramedic is out of surgery and moved to ICU..." Officials said An will need "extensive medical treatment to get him back up to par" and was in stable but critical condition.

Rawlings says the neighbor who was shot also was in intensive care, though other details haven't been released.

A paramedic who responded to the scene to render aid to an injured person was sacked upon, police said.

The incident unfolded when police received a 911 call about a shooting around 11:31 a.m. Dallas Fire-Rescue were the first to arrive on the scene in an ambulance and immediately upon arrival, found a resident suffering from a gunshot wound.

The Dallas Independent School District says no schools are in the immediate area of where police are searching. Dozens of police vehicles could be seen swarming the mostly residential neighbourhood near Interstate 30.

The incident began as a "simple dispute between two neighbors that escalated into a shooting", interim Chief David Pughes of the Dallas Police Department said.

Fox reportedly discussing JV with Blackstone to bid for Tribune Media
Since a stock price $28.33 on January 26 of this year, Tribune Media has seen its stock price rise 37%. Brent crude, used to price global oils, declined 50 cents, or 1 percent, to $51.54 a barrel in London.

Dallas police received a call about a possible suicide after the second shooting.

Officers approaching the area were fired upon and attempted to take cover, Pughes said.

The paramedic, 36-year-old William An, was in stable but critical condition at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, said Jason Evans, a spokesman for Dallas Fire-Rescue.

A neighbor who was outside the home at the time of the shooting was also shot. Rawlings says the threat to the neighborhood is over. Police have not identified the suspect or the other dead man. Every day these fire rescue officers and police put their lives on the line. No detail at this time.

Monday morning, when he opened fire on first responders on a shooting call, was not the first time Brown has been in a tense situation with police. The unidentified officer "went above and beyond as numerous Dallas police officers do each and every day", Pughes said.

The shooting occurred not far from the Dolphin Road Fire Training Academy, the city of Dallas said in a statement.
