In a separate appearance on the Fox Business Network, Trump said that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was "doing the wrong thing".

Donald Trump recently tweeted that "the problem of North Korea" would be "taken care of".

Soldiers, tanks and other military hardware were paraded in Pyongyang in a show of strength on Saturday. Despite Beijing's key role in propping up North Korea, the Kim Jong-Un regime has repeatedly ignored warnings and sanctions from its powerful ally.

Saturday's parade, the annual highlight of North Korea's most important holiday, came amid growing global worries that North Korea may be preparing for its sixth nuclear test or a major missile launch, such as its first flight test of an ICBM capable of reaching USA shores.

Al Jazeera's Craig Leeson, reporting from Seoul, in the South, said Kim Il-sung's birthday, also known as the Day of the Sun, is a day for celebration in North Korea, but also a day for analysts to observe the military parade.

China is North Korea's lone major ally but has spoken out against its missile and nuclear tests and has supported United Nations sanctions.

Rows of military bands and columns of troops marched into Pyongyang's main Kim Il-sung square in the heart of the city.

The state TV also showed several KN-08 missiles being rolled out on trucks at the parade.

Last week, it emerged that a US Navy strike group has been sent into the Western Pacific, with Commander Dave Benham, spokesman at US Pacific Command, saying that it was a "prudent measure".

The festivities took place amid concerns that North Korea is possibly preparing for its sixth nuclear test or a significant rocket launch, such as its first flight test of an ICBM.

Wang further hinted that a conflict could break out at any moment, adding that there will be no victor if such a situation arises.

In the report, NBC News notes that the embattled dictatorship has warned that a "big event" would be coming soon and that officials believe a test may be run as soon as this weekend. "Lately, tensions have risen. and one has the feeling that a conflict could break out at any moment", Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi said.

China, whose foreign minister met his French counterpart in Beijing on Friday, has said it wants to cooperate with Russian Federation to calm tension over North Korea as quickly as possible and bring all parties to the negotiating table.

The Global Times said Trump's decision to drop the "mother of all bombs" on Afghanistan was clearly "a new gimmick in USA military deterrence" created to intimidate Kim Jong-un.

"As long as the nuclear threats and blackmail go on with the military exercises, we will carry forward with our national defense buildup, the core of which is the nuclear arms buildup", he said.
