New DNC Chair Tom Perez Booed At DNC Reboot Tour

The goal of their road trip, dubbed the "Come Together And Fight Back Tour", is to shore up a badly fractured Democratic Party and present some semblance of a united opposition to the Trump administration. Perez, who served as President Obama's labor secretary, was elected as chairman of the DNC in February. What I'm trying to do, and I've been doing this for a number of years in a variety of ways, is to revitalize American democracy, to create a political system that is not dominated by billionaires and large corporations, but bring working people into the political process.

Sanders, along with Democratic national chairman Tom Perez, will be participating in part of a national tour called "Come Together and Fight Back" at the Louisville Palace Tuesday evening.

The party's tour continues this week with visits to red and purple states, including Arizona, Florida, Kentucky, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada and Utah. The crowd roared with approval at the mention of Sanders' name and started chanting his name.

"Health care is absolutely a right in this country, or should be", Perez said. When Sanders was unable to make inroads with the party's "super-delegates", the senator and his faithful talked about the "rigged" party system, and even after the senator endorsed Hillary Clinton and campaigned on her behalf, it was nearly always on the party's terms.

I'm prepared to believe that he does give a shit, but like so numerous mainstream Democrats who have so consistently made the party seem timid, center right, or unwilling to truly fight the right, he seemed to embody the kind of people and the kind of mentality Thomas Frank wrote about previous year, those people who aren't hungry enough, aren't angry enough, and are too remote, personally, from the front lines of this struggle.

Sitting alongside Perez during a joint interview, Sanders said that he wants the Democratic Party to focus on key issues for progressives, such as the decline of the middle class, the "need" to take on wealthy interests and unite around "Medicare for all".

LeForce was found in an outbuilding near Guthrie, where he surrendered to authorities, Oklahoma Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Emergency crews and law enforcement responded to the scene near I-35 and Mulhall in Logan County, north of Oklahoma City.

Sander's appearance comes as Democratic parties nationwide are trying to appeal to the working class in states including ME, where a resurgent Republican Party in the last decade has gained ground in rural communities roiled by the closing of paper mills and sluggish economic growth.

He drew thousands to a rally at the civic center in Portland in July 2015, showing he was more than a fringe candidate. In the end, he earned almost two-thirds of the ballots cast in Maine's Democratic presidential caucuses to beat Clinton, who won the party's presidential nomination. Sanders will headline a Louisville event aimed at helping re-energize Kentucky's downtrodden Democratic Party. "We're going to take you on", Sanders said.

"Our big tent is big enough to accommodate people who have viewpoint diversity on a number of issues", he said.

Jackson also said he's "heard from a lot of pundits that the average American feels powerless".

"When we put hope on the ballot, Chris, we win", Perez said.

Rally attendee Melinda Feldman said she supported Hillary Clinton in the primary race, but she was turning to Sanders for direction and ideas for moving forward.

Perez criticized President Trump's stated desires to repeal and replace Obamacare, the Affordable Care Act, which he said, "has been a lifesaver, not a job killer". "Democrats have the reputation of being elitist". They believe more people in the country are on their same page.
