Sonu Nigam calls azaan 'forced religiousness'

Sonu Nigam tweets on Azaan

His tweet came in the wake of him being waken up by the morning "Azaaan" from the neighbourhood mosque.

Patel said, "Today people have Azaan on their phones even have Azaan clocks; loudspeaker is not that necessary now". "When will this forced religiousness end in India", Mr Nigam said in one of his tweets.

He dubbed the practice as intimidation in nature. "It s about Loudspeaker", the revered singer explained while responding to a tweet later that day.

Taking to Twitter, Nigam called his critics people with "low IQ" while adding that the loudspeaker must be banned both from temple and mosques. Why then.? Honest? True?' Later he also tweeted saying, 'Gundagardi hai buss'.

On Monday Sonu Nigam posted on tweeter - "God bless everyone". Why do I have to have this cacophony after Edison?' and calling it "Gundagardi" (hooliganism). He has once again requested people not to take a religious angle on his tweets but to think like Indian citizens.

Google agrees to open Android to competing apps in Russian Federation
The Android home-screen search bar was at the center of a two-year dispute between Google and Russian Federation regulators. The amount of the fine consists of 9% of company's turnover on the Russian market in 2014 plus inflation.

Nigam raised an objection against the playing of the azaan on loud speakers, calling it forced religiousness. While everyone was angry on Sonu Nigam, there were others who got confused between Sonu Nigam and Sonu Sood and landed the latter at the receiving end of many.

There were mixed reactions to the tweets by the singer.

"Azaan should be stopped in India, where millions of Muslims live, because desh ka laadla Sonu Nigam can't sleep".

Only, as it often happens when social media is provoked into blind hysteria, most of the Twitterati did not bother double-checking which Sonu they were tagging, while expressing their opinions.
