Srikanth, ranked 29, has won the China Open Super Series Premier (2014) and India Open Superseries (2015) for his two biggest title wins.

Srikanth, victor of the 2014 China Open Superseries event, defeated 20-year-old Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia 21-13 21-14 in 42 minutes in the second semifinals.

Praneeth, who had reached the finals at Syed Modi Grand Prix Gold in January only to suffer an injury in his shoulders, made a spectacular comeback in the match to stun his opponent.

It includes beating Taufik Hidayat at the Indonesian's home tournament in 2013, and he also stunned Malaysia's world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei at the All England Open a year ago. I think I suddenly lost concentration and I made too many mistakes when I was leading, ' said a disappointed Srikanth. The former world number three is once again showing hunger to win major titles and his comfortable victory over All-England 2017 runner-up Shi Yuqi in the quarter-final showcased it. However, from 4-9 down, Srikanth not only erased the deficit but also grabbed a slender 11-10 lead at the break.

Srikanth continued in the same vein after the interval to move to 16-10 at one stage.

In the second semi-final, Srikanth roused himself after a poor start against Indonesia's Anthony Sinisuka Ginting in the first game and strode into the final with a typical, aggressive performance.
