5-year-old dies after getting stuck at Atlanta rotating restaurant

The family were reportedly the last customers in the restaurant when the boy wandered away from his parents to see the view of the Atlanta skyline

The family were reportedly the last customers in the restaurant when the boy wandered away from his parents to see the view of the Atlanta skyline

The incident took place on Friday (14 April) at the Sun Dial restaurant at the top of the 72-storied Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel at around 3:30pm local time (8.30pm BST).

The restaurant spins to offer 360 degree views of the city's skyline, and the boy reportedly became lodged between the wall and a rotating table. "A small child doesn't know what to do in those moments".

Her family notified the restaurant when she did not return home after her shift, and when hotel staff looked for her, they found her body in the freezer.

House Democrats are pushing for Jared Kushner, Donald Trump's son-in-law, to lose his security clearance after he failed to disclose contacts he has had with Russian officials.

The child and his family were visiting from Charlotte and had went to the restaurant for lunch, Atlanta Police Department spokesman Warren Pickard said, according to USA Today. The child, whose identity was not released, was rushed to the hospital with head trauma but died from his injuries. "Pulling furniture, turning over tables, trying to administer first aid, but just want not successful in saving the child's life", said Sgt. Pickard.

When the restaurant began to rotate, the boy's head somehow became caught between the rotating floor and a wall, prompting the floor to stop as it was created to do if something were to become caught.

Officials said the child was bleeding from the head. They were not staying at the hotel, according to authorities. "Our thoughts remain with the family". Words can not express the depths of our sorrow.
