Russell Henley earns the final invitation to The Masters

American Russell Henley secured the final place at this week's Masters after claiming a three-shot victory over South Korea's Sung Kang at the Houston Open.

A double bogey on the par-three ninth - where Henley found a bunker from the tee and then three-putted - briefly checked his progress.

Sung Kang passed his first test on Saturday while chasing his maiden PGA Tour win at the Houston Open.

A dropped shot at the last saw Henley finish on 20 under par for the week, with Kang three shots adrift in second.

Russell Henley with the trophy after winning the Shell Houston Open in Humble, Texas April 2, 2017. He also has 22 birdies, the most he has ever had through 54 holes in a PGA Tour event.

"Although I haven't quite been close to the lead, I feel like my game has been there", Henley said.

This was the third win on the PGA Tour for Henley.

After playing 28 holes Saturday, Thompson is at 13-under 203 heading into Sunday's final round.

SpaceX Successfully Deploys Previously Launched Rocket
With more testing on the horizon it's possible that SpaceX could reach its productivity goal at the cusp of 2018. CEO Elon Musk told reporters it was " the cherry on the cake " for what was already a very historic day.

"I did about everything I could to play, but my back rehabilitation didn't allow me the time to get tournament ready", Woods said on his website.

Then there was Sunday's final round at the Golf Club of Houston, where the only consistent aspect was the circle he put around almost every one of his scores.

The decisive stretch came on the par-5 13th, where Henley and Kang were tied for the lead. "Obviously, yeah, I would have liked to have gotten off to a better start".

Kang began the day a shot behind overnight leader Rickie Fowler, but quickly erased that deficit with a birdie on the 11th, his second hole of the day.

"I'll probably just go call a couple friends, talk to my parents, my brother, and talk to my wife a little bit, and just talk about the day and I might get some ice cream".

LPGA: So Yeon Ryu won the ANA Inspiration on Sunday in a one-hole playoff with Lexi Thompson, who was given a four-stroke penalty late in the final round for an incorrect ball placement a day earlier.

Because 81 players made the cut after the second round, there was a 54-hole cut to the top 70 players and ties.

"He's been putting really well since yesterday and the last few days, and then I haven't been putting really well, not like the first two rounds".
