Britain formally begins process to leave European Union

Today, Prime Minister Theresa May signed off on a letter expressing the UK's intention to leave the European Union under Article 50, officially triggering the two-year divorce process.

"This is a historic moment from which there can be no turning back", she told a raucous session of parliament in an address that was frequently interrupted by heckling from opposition lawmakers.

"We already miss you", he told Britons, adding that "paradoxically there is something positive in Brexit".

What can I add to this?

European Council President Donald Tusk tweeted: "At 13.20 today, UK #Brexit notification letter (article 50) will be handed to me by Ambassador Tim Barrow".

"The phony war is over", said Joe Carberry, co-director of the pro-EU pressure group Open Britain.

While the European Union scrambles to contain the fallout from Britain's departure after four decades of membership, May is also battling to keep her deeply divided nation together.

Parliament will hold her to her promises.

Speaking in the Commons, Stephen Kinnock of the opposition Labour Party read out an excerpt from the letter and asked, "Is she really saying the security of our country will be traded like a bargaining chip in these negotiations?"

Confirming the news, MV Sridhar was quoted saying by The Indian Express , "Yes, India would be sending a team to the tournament". The two Asian teams are scheduled to meet each other in the 2017 Champions Trophy on June 4 in Edgbaston, Birmingham.

"That is our focus, that is what we will be working with our European partners to achieve and I think that we can do that".

Uncertainty as to the outcome of those negotiations is bound to constitute a drag on the United Kingdom's economic performance and to complicate the financing of Britain's very large external current account deficit. Brexit has made us, the community of 27, more determined and more united than before. "The EU will look to establish a fair agreement for the long term future of union members". Leaders of those nations will meet April 29 to finalize their negotiating platform before instructing the EU's chief negotiator, French diplomat Michel Barnier. But May made clear her insistence trade talks should start now.

The first area of conflict will probably be money.

She referred - twice - to London's "obligations as a departing member state", in a nod to Brussels' demands that a "Brexit bill", possibly of the order of 60 billion euros, be paid to cover outstanding commitments before Britain leaves. Britain agrees it will have to pay something, but is sure to quibble over how much.

Talking to the House of Commons after Article 50 was invoked, the prime minister reiterated that leaving the European Union presents a "unique opportunity" to "build a stronger, fairer, better Britain - a Britain our children and grandchildren are proud to call home". Moreover, the European Union would lose Britain's strong voice for global security actions favored by the US, such as sanctions on Russian Federation for its military intervention in neighboring Ukraine.

"There is nothing to win in this process and I'm talking about both sides".

"We should aim to strike an early agreement about their rights".

May conceded Wednesday that there would have to be a "phased process of implementation" once the two years are up. Though she did not repeat the same "no deal is better than a bad deal" language, she explicitly referred to the possibility that Britain may leave on March 29, 2019 "without an agreement". The firm set up in the City just after the financial crisis and has clocked up more than $2 billion worth of business.

If the country fails to strike a trade deal with Britain and defaults to trading under World Trade Organization rules, it is forecast to lose 7.5% of its GDP over 15 years, according to the UK's own official estimates.
