Olympics Medal Count 2010: America Falls in Standing
February 17th, 2010
Olympics medal count 2010: America falls in standing. Yesterday, we reported the US lead the Olympic medal count with 8 total medals. At the end of the day, there are still only 8 American athletes who have won medals: 2 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze.
Since the US didn’t win any of the medal events yesterday in Vancouver, they fell to the #2 slot. Germany now boasts 9 total medals: 3 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze. This means that the US not only doesn’t have the most gold – they don’t have the most total awards either.
Behind the US lies France with 7 total awards. If France wins big today, and the US stays steady, it’s quite possible that America will slip to the #3 slot or even further below.
Even with lackluster reporting on the part of NBC, the Olympic Games continue to be exciting for many winter sports enthusiasts. Live streaming available on the web through the Vancouver Games official Web site and on the NBC Olympic Web site, allows people to access sporting events as they take place.
Today’s docket includes Women’s curling, cross country skiing, ladies downhill alpine, ice hockey, and men’s curling. There will be two medal events today, for a possible 6 awards. Any country could come out on top so be sure to stay tuned for tomorrow’s medal update.
