Nodar Kumaritashvili memorial service an appropriate venue to pay respects to luger who died.  Nodar Kumaritashivili’s memorial service took place in Vancouver, and was attended by about 40 individuals, according to reports from The Providence.

The reports indicate that those attending the service were wearing traditional Georgian dress, with the exception of some individuals that were associated with the Vancouver Organizing Committee.

After the memorial service, Nodar Kumaritashvili’s body will be taken to an airport where it will be flown back to his native country of Georgia.  He will be buried there.

The luger died after losing control of his sled coming through the 16^th turn of the Whistler track.  He was participating in a training event, and had high hopes of winning an Olympic medal.

 The memorial service was an appropriate venue given the circumstance.  He died in preparations for the Olympics, which is something of his life’s passion.

The memorial service isn’t the only way that the luger will be remembered.  Tomorrow night, the 49 countries that make up the European Olympic Committee will attend an evening of remembrance at the Italion House.

The luger told his father that he was “scared” of the track.  After his death, the Olympic Committee ruled the incident due to “human error.”
