Over 1,000 Birds Fall from Sky in Arkansas

January 3rd, 2011

A news report out of Beebe Arkansas indicates that for some reason or another, 1,000 birds fell from the sky in Arkansas on January 1, 2011. So far, there’s no concrete reason, but there are some theories.

Some seem to think that the setting off of New Year’s Day fireworks “stressed out” the birds, causing them to “pass out” and thus fall to their death.  Others tend to think that the birds were hit by lightning or flew through an electric storm, or were impacted by an airplane.

Or perhaps they partied too hard for the holiday. Or maybe they ate too many sweets over Christmas.  I know, I know – bad joke, right? All jokes aside, besides being a bizarre story the mystery needs to be solved.

In addition to the 1,000 birds that fell from the sky, fish are also dying in record numbers in the area.

Conspiracy theories abound. What’s killing these creatures?

Experts claim that the birds were killed by loud noises because these particular birds have poor nighttime eyesight. The loud noises from fireworks or other loud noises likely startled the birds, causing them to scatter, thus running in to trees or buildings.

Of course, that doesn’t explain the fish dying in Arkansas!

If you have a theory on what is causing this phenomenon, please feel free to share with us.
