Assange: Hillary Clinton Should Resign

December 1st, 2010

Julian Assange, the “mastermind” behind Wikileaks, claims that Hillary Clinton should resign from her post as US Secretary of State due to claims that she urged US Diplomats to “spy” on United Nations actions.

The claim came from a discussion via Skype from an undisclosed location with Time Magazine.  It was recently announced that Assange is on Interpol’s “most wanted” list for rape charges in Sweden.

Considering that he’s using Skype, you would think it would be relatively easy to find him, and that the focus would be on putting a stop on document leaks rather than focusing on his views on what the US should and should not do in the wake of the leaked documents.

Ever since Wikileaks dumped data related to the Iraq and Afghan wars, there have been those who have tried to stop the leaks.  However, Assange is neither a US Citizen, nor is his site hosted in the US.  Therefore, it would take international action to pull a plug on his site.

If Hillary Clinton does indeed resign, it will show that Assange in some ways had control over at least one aspect of US Politics due to his data dump.  Would that feed the hunger for even more leaks? After all, if he could get Clinton to resign, what else could he do?

Perhaps instead of focusing on Clinton resigning, Assange should take his own advice, and resign from dumping government secrets into a public forum. In addition, maybe he should turn himself in on the various charges he’s wanted for and clear that up.
