Gawker Leaks Sarah Palin ‘America By Heart’ Passages, Ordered To Remove
November 21st, 2010
Gawker leaked pages from Sarah Palin’s “America By Heart” book, which is due out this Tuesday. Although Gawker has been able to leak the story about Brett Favre’s voicemails and naughty text messages and Christine O’Donnell’s one night stand there is one big name out there that they can’t play around with. That’s Sarah Palin.
Palin’s new book, “America By Heart” is being released on Tuesday. Gawker posted leaked pages from the anticipated release, and actually had to take it down as a lawsuit was filed by Harper Collins for copyright infringement.
Gawker initially responded as expected – by mocking Palin after she Tweeted “Isn’t That illegal” in response to them posting her book – by saying “read the law.”
However, a New York judge ordered the pages be taken down pending a November 30 hearing. Harper Collins, Sarah Palin’s publisher, is seeking monetary damages.
You can see the court pleading documents below. It’s actually quite surprising to see someone stand up to Gawker, and actually get the better of them. I can’t help but wonder if the publisher will have to actually pay Sarah Palin for the leak – which would be the ultimate conservative slap-back to the popular gossip blog.
