Four Loko BANNED – Caffeinated Alcoholic Cocktails NOT BANNED.  Okay, so Four Loko is banned – many states started taking action early, banning the sale of caffeinated alcohol products.  Of course, this is in essence good – there were many students at universities who actually had to go to the emergency room after consuming Four Loko products.

However, you can still go to the bar and get Alcohol and Caffeine mixed together.  Should all highly caffeinated alcoholic drinks be banned? Should bars be banned from selling Red Bull?

After all, what’s the difference between drinking beers and an energy drink or drinking an alcoholic energy drink? Bars have been selling Red Bull for years. Now that Four Loko will be off the shelves, more patrons who are used to getting their caffeinated drink on will be snatching up the Red Bull and downing some shots.

In the end, how do you regulate the ban on alcoholic energy drinks? Is it that just the product that is sold as a whole should be banned, or should cocktails be banned – at least in bars – too?

  1. Edgar says:

The problem is not the alcohol and caffeine. Its the uneducated people that think this is not bad for you.
I thought alcohol was unhealthy and unsafe by its self?
More people are hospitalized drinking beers then 4 Lokos and that’s a fact. The problem is not the drink. Its the consumers responsibility to know the danger of drinking.

  2. SP says:

Whats next how about we ban alcohol all together. . . the issue is the over consuption of alcohol and using a stimulant to help you consume more anything with out moderation can be a problem. so in short the problem lies in the under age and misusage of Four loko not the the drink itself. just another reason why the state should be in the habit of enforcing alcohol laws not selling it

  3. Brandon Swarthout says:

The real reason Four Loko is being banned…WHAT THE GOV DOESN’T WANT YOU TO KNOW.

  4. Christal says:

Why are we just figuring it out that caffeine and alcohol are not a good mix? One is an stimulant, and the other is a depressant. DUH!!! It’s going to be unhealthy.
