Pacquiao vs Clottey Results a Unanimous Decision Crowns Pacquiao Champion. The boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey was highly anticipated. The fight was orchestrated after a Pacquiao- Mayweather card could not be negotiated.
Last night’s match was scheduled for 12 rounds and took place at the Dallas Cowboy’s Station at 9:00 EST/6:00 PST.
The event’s referee was Rafael Ramos, and the judges were Levi Martinez, Nelson Vasquez and Duane Ford. Pacquiao won by unanimous decision giving him a 51-3-2 record in comparison to Clottey’s 35-4 record.
The fight was scored 120-108, 119-109, 119-109, obviously in favor of Manny Pacquiao. The Pac Man threw 1231 punches in comparison to Joshua Clottey’s 399.
Clottey started out very defensive, and Pacquiao did all that he could do to defend his WBO welterweight title. This was a very big match for the two fighters.
There are rumors that tonight’s boxing match was Paquiao’s last hoo-rah before hanging up the boxing gloves. The stories indicate that he is going to run for public office in his home country of the Philipines.
The news about the potential retirement by the Pac Man is disappointing to those that still held on to hope that a Mayweather – Pacquiao fight would occur. Late last year, deals fell through due to an argument over blood tests.
Manny Pacquiao was expected to win tonight, but Clottey held in there. He was able to make it through the match without any serious injuries and really put on an entertaining fight for us all.
