Miley Cyrus Who Owns My Heart Video Controversy

October 12th, 2010

Miley Cyrus’s Who Owns my Heart video controversy continues.  There are many concerned parent groups that believe that the former Hannah Montana star’s new music video, “Who Owns my Heart” is far too racy for the teenaged star.

Of course, the Miley Cyrus controversies aren’t anything new.  “Can’t Be Tamed” was said to be too racy as well, and came out about the same time as a lapdance video which featured Miley giving a 40-something man a lap dance.

Given Miley’s past history of sexing it up a bit, should parents even be surprised that she would show skin in her new video?

Some fear that she’s alienating her core fan base, and others are worried that these little girls that looked up to Hannah Montana will aspire to be the saucy vixens featured in these music videos.

All that being said, you can’t get mad at Miley for the controversy.  She’s trying to make money and she’s the artist.  Parents are the ones who are responsible for monitoring what their children view and discussing with them what they see. The Miley Cyrus Who Owns My Heart controversy will likely continue for a few more days, only to be brought up the next time she releases a sexy video.

Miley is not the “former” Hannah Montana. She is still starring in “Hannah Montana Forever”. Why does she feel she has to try so hard? There must be a balance between being a young Disney star, and branching out to being more of a mainstream artist. I, personally, cannot stand to even watch Hannah Montana anymore. Even her character has changed into more of a mean-spirited, selfish person. Give me Selena Gomez anytime!
