A Talk Like a Pirate Day 2010 Buzz Amid Penelope Cruz Pregnant Excitement
September 19th, 2010
It’s 2o10 Talk like a Pirate Day, and it’s all anyone’s blogging about. In fact, I’d venture to rename today “blog about Pirates day” due to the trending topics not only on Google, but also Yahoo and Twitter. However, this is a fun day you can share with your kids as they look forward to dressing and talking like pirates. Hardy Har Har…how do you like them apples?
This “holiday” couldn’t come at a better time. Everyone is excited about Penelope Cruz pregnant news, as she’s one of the stars of Pirates of the Caribbean 4 (you can see a teaser trailer here).
Celebrating “Talk like a Pirate Day” could be as simple as sitting down with the three installments of Pirates of the Caribbean or as elaborate as pulling out those pirate Halloween costumes and playing the part. It’s up to you.
However, what many readers likely want to know is…where did this day come from? Who thought up this holiday?
Well it started with an injury where someone exclaimed “Arrr” on June 6, 1995. However, out of respect for D-Day they put off celebrating the day until September 19 of that year. Why September 19? That’s one of the originators’ ex-wives birthday.
So yes, we are celebrating “talk like a pirate day” on September 19, 2010 while some poor woman out there has her birth day flaunted on Wikipedia after her ex husband came up with this holiday. How are you celebrating?
