Oil Rig Explosion Gulf of Mexico 2010: Is Oil Leaking?

September 2nd, 2010

An oil rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico.  Given the recent Gulf of Mexico oil spill, this comes as the latest blow to a hard hit by the recent oil spill. All 13 people have been accounted for on the rig. There’s no word if there is any additional oil leaking.

The explosion is about 80 miles off the coast of Louisiana.  The rig isn’t producing oil and gas at this time.

The Deepwater Horizon platform that exploded in April caused an oil spill which leaked 206 million gallons of crude and natural gas into the ocean. The aftermath has been a nightmare for the families who have been impacted by the spill.

The area cannot afford another oil spill, which is why all watchful eyes are on this exploded oil rig.
We will keep a watchful eye on this breaking news situation and keep you informed of any updates.
