Tropical Storm Earl 2010 Becomes Hurricane Earl 2010 (Projected Path MAP)

August 29th, 2010

Tropical Storm Earl update 2010 – Tropical Storm Earl has strengthened to Hurricane Earl, and is projected to become a “major” category three storm later on tonight.  Although the storm system isn’t expected to come to the stateside, it’s still set to wreak havoc to the Leeward Islands.

Warnings are in effect for the British Virgin Islands.  A Tropical Storm warning and a hurricane watch are in effect for Puerto Rico.

Hurricane Earl is expected to do much more damage than Hurricane Danielle, which reached a peak of Category 4 before dropping in strength to Category 1.  It did not make landfall, and doesn’t appear to be approaching landfall, either.

On the other hand, Earl is still threatening Atlantic Ocean chains.  Many are holding their breaths, hoping that the storm doesn’t change course and head towards the US.

The storm is heading West Northwest at 14mph with 85mph sustained winds, with some gusts of higher winds.
