Lindsay Lohan, eTrade Babies, and $100 Million

March 11th, 2010

Lindsay Lohan, eTrade Babies, and $100 Million.  Actress Lindsey Lohan, aka LiLo, was a little ticked off about one particular Super Bowl ad.  eTrade, known for their cute stock trading babies, had an ad featuring a “milk-a-holic” named Lindsay.

Of course, Lindsay Lohan thought that the milk-a-holic was based on her, and that her name “Lindsay” is just like other celebrity names such as “Oprah” and “Madonna” where she can be identified by first name only.

Because of “mental distress”, Lohan is suing the internet stock broker for $100 million.

Of course, if the baby was called “Oprah” or “Madonna” it would be a tad different, but Lindsay is a fairly common name.  Sitting here, I can think of at least three Lindsays that I personally know that aren’t famous and weren’t at all offended by the eTrade ad.

eTrade claims that the name “Lindsay” was used to pay tribute to a staff member on the account.  Lindsay Lohan, who spent a brief time in jail for drunk driving, is claiming that everyone is talking about how the eTrade baby is really her.

Lohan’s attorney wants the company to stop running the ads and turn all copies of the ad over to her.  It will be hard to completely remove the eTrade commercial from the public, as many people have recorded it, embedded it into their blogs, and more.

What do you think about the Lindsay Lohan eTrade lawsuit? Do you see Lindsay’s point, or do you think that the company didn’t actually mean anything by it?
