Robert “Joe” Halderman Emmy Nomination

July 16th, 2010

Robert “Joe” Halderman Emmy Nomination.  The infamous blackmailer of David Letterman has an Emmy nomination.  Robert (Joe) Halderman’s Emmy nomination stems from his 48 Hours Mystery show “American Girl, Italian Nightmare” which is about the Amanda Knox Case. According to the Huffington Post, Halderman is currently serving a short jail sentence in connection with the attempted extortion of David Letterman.

David Letterman should get an Emmy nomination for his monologue announcing his alleged affairs with girls who worked on his show.  Halderman was going to out Letterman as a cheater if he didn’t give him a large sum of money.  Instead of giving in, Letterman came forward and made light of the serious situation once the plot was foiled – with Letterman’s help – by authorities. Halderman also had a relationship with Letterman’s alleged mistress.

However, Halderman should be commended for his work on the Amanda Knox special.  The story has been a big center in international law, as there have been questions over the fairness of Knox’s Italian trial and also her guilt in general.  Knox has been convicted by an Italian jury of killing her roommate Meredith Kercher and is currently serving a 25 year sentence in an Italian prison.  She’s working on an appeal and maintains her innocence.

The Emmy  nominations were announced yesterday, and Robert “Joe” Halderman’s nomination may have come as a surprise. However, the work he did was great and shouldn’t be taken in consideration with his attempted extortion of David Letterman.
