Shaun White Wows at Winter X Games After Crash

January 31st, 2010

Shaun White crashed during his practice at the Winter X Games, but he pushed on, and even won his third Gold Medal at the games.  His crash took place while he was attempting a new trick, and his helmet flew off as he hit his head on the icy half pipe and slid down to the end.

He got up, disoriented but was okay.  He’s very lucky, as a hit to the head like that could have had very serious consequences.

Shaun White’s X Game Gold Medal win simply reinforces him as a Gold Medal favorite at the Vancouver Olympics which will take place later this year.

The Double Cork and the Double McTwist are two terrifying moves that the snowboarder aced during his run for the Gold at the X Games.  He’s extremely fortunate that his crash did not take place during the competition.

To illustrate how serious the double cork is, Kevin Pearce is one of Shaun White’s biggest competitors.  He was so seriously injured on a half pipe while trying to attempt a double cork, that he remains hospitalized one month later.

Danny Davis was the only competitor to beat Shaun White this year, after landing three double corks in a row in a tribute to Pearce.  He was not at the X games because he broke vertebrae in his neck in an ATV accident.

Many are looking forward to see Shaun White compete at the Vancouver Olympics.  Snowboarding is a great sport, and he is one of the best contenders in the race.
