Oscar Fashion Best and Worst 2010 a Big Deal to Fashion Aficionados

March 8th, 2010

Oscar Fashion Best and Worst 2010 a Big Deal to Fashion Aficionados. Face it – sitting through hours of Oscar acceptance speeches isn’t really all that fun. What’s the one thing about the Academy Awards that is red hot and lots of fun? The red carpet! Watching stars as they arrive and critiquing their fashion choices is a favorite of many.

In the days following the Oscars, everyone will be talking about who won what and what they were wearing.  The focus is, of course, on the best and worst dressed stars.  Here’s a brief rundown of some of the best and worst fashion styles on the 82nd Annual Academy Awards Red Carpet:

BEST DRESSED

Kristen Stewart – The “Twilight” star showed that she’s Oscar ready at her red carpet debut. She wore an elegant strapless black gown, and had her hair swept back.

Meryl Streep – One of Hollywood’s hottest leading ladies and 16 time Oscar nominee wore a white gown by Chris March, a designer for Project Runway, on the red carpet.  The gown was very elegant and age-appropriate. She looked very sophisticated and there’s no doubt she was one of the best dressed.

Kate Winslet – Sporting an Yves Saint Laurent silver dress, Winslet easily slipped in to one of the best dressed spots.

Sandra Bullock – Best Actress, Best Acceptance Speech, and Best Dressed. Sandra Bullock from “The Blind Side” is simply…the best. Sporting an embroidered gown with simple hair and makeup, she looked incredible.

WORST DRESSED

Carey Mulligan – The Best Actress nominee arrived at the gala wearing a black Prada gown that was bedazzled with what appeared to be little charms in the shape of forks, knives, and spoons.  What’s up with that?

Amanda Seyfried – It wasn’t the shape of the gown, so much as the color.  One fashion critic said that Seyfried’s dress looked like their comforter – oh, and they didn’t like the African bracelet either. Harsh.

Anna Kendrick – Anna wore a beautiful gown, but it didn’t do her fair complexion justice.  The mauve colored Elie Saab gown would have looked fabulous in a richer color that would allow her to show off her creamy skin.

Sarah Jessica Parker – Sarah’s gown wasn’t that bad, except it didn’t show off her features. In addition, many fashion critics criticized her gum-smacking on the red carpet.

Of course, the Oscar Fashion Best and Worst are always a matter of opinion.  Who made your best and worst dressed lists this year?
