Verizon iPhone 4G Release Date – 2010 Christmas?
May 31st, 2010
Verizon iPhone 4G Release Date – 2010 Christmas? Word on The Street is that Apple is going to announce or at least release a CDMA iPhone sometime around Christmas. This is new news, as previously the dominant story was that AT&T and Apple were under a 5 year deal where Apple couldn’t sell the iPhone on any other network than AT&T.
However, TheStreet.com reports that Apple has a full scale production of the iPhone CDMA planned, and that a Verizon launch could happen as early as November. If this is true, the holiday season will be a bit brighter for those who have Verizon phones.
Apple also told their manufacturers to prepare for 4 million units a month by September of this year – a 25% increase over current production.
Originally, Apple had an exclusive partner in each country that they operated in. Now, it’s said that they are going to move to an approach where many other networks will also have the handset as well.
Sometime between June 7 and June 11 an entirely re-worked iPhone is expected to be unveiled, which is expected to inspire a huge replacement cycle as people get through their initial 2 year contracts with their current iPhones.
A common disclaimer given about anything Apple is this – nothing is set in stone until Steve Jobs makes an announcement.
