Google Social Search in Beta Status

January 28th, 2010

Google’s got a neat new feature for those (like us here at CNM News) that live online.  We are all familiar with Google’s generic searches, news searches, and Scholarly article searches.

Recent changes to Google also include real-time searches that show what’s going on around popular social networking sites such as Twitter.

Now, there will be more than Twitter feeds showing up on some Google searches.  Google has upgraded a social networking search platform from labs to beta status.

Using this search, users will be able to more easily locate information found on sites such as FaceBook, Twitter, and MySpace.  It’s important to note that most of this information is already indexed by most major search engines, but Google’s new interface makes it that much easier to find what you are looking for.

While many that enjoy social networking are excited about the new feature, there are those who are a little skeptical about privacy implications.  Those concerned about their privacy should never, ever post anything online – even to their social networking profiles.

Even when you delete information, it’s still available for quite some time.  Still yet, those that hate digging through pages of useless search results to find what they are looking for will benefit from the new feature, epecially if they are trying to find out information about their friends.
