Texas Primary Election 2010 and Results.  Yesterday was the primary election for the governor of Texas, and two-time incumbent Rick Perry won the bid for the Republican party over Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson.  Perry’s bid was met with over 50% of the votes, avoiding a run-off election.

In the beginning, Hutchinson was favored to win, but the current Texas governor wooed the voters and obtained his slot in the next election.

Who will Rick Perry run against? The Democratic Primary election was won by Bill White.  The Democratic win was over 76% of his party’s votes.  Despite that, Perry still got more total votes overall than did White.

Perry boasted over 240,000 votes whereas White received a little over 170,000.  As always, anything can happen during an election so just because Perry appears to be ahead of his competitor, doesn’t necessarily mean that he will win.

The two will duke it out in the final polls during the 2010 mid-term election.  This election is going to be a very tense time for Washington, as the Democrats fear losing some of their seats to Republicans.

Tensions have mounted since the special election for the late Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat in Massachusetts.  Typically a Democratic state since the 70′s, Scott Brown – a Republican – won the first Republican Senate seat from his state in about 30 years.
