Nashville Flood Photos 2010 and Catastrophic Disaster Cleanup Begins.  Last week, Nashville was flooded by torrential rain.  The flooding in Nashville has been deemed a “500 year” flood, as the Cumberland River rose to over 51 feet (floods occur at 40 feet). The flood waters took over portions of Downtown Nashville, as well as the Opryland area.

The luxury hotel, The Opryland Hotel, and the historic Grand Ole Opry were covered in water, as was the popular Opry Mills mall.

Citizens all over Davidson County, Tennessee and the surrounded areas were affected.  Some lost everything that they had in the flood waters.  Newscasts reveal people already tearing the drywall out of their flooded homes and pulling mud caked furniture from the interior trying to salvage what they could out of their homes.

Many have given to the cleanup efforts.  Taylor Swift gave $500,000 of her own money, and Reba McEntire gave $100,000 of hers. Benefit concerts are in the works that will help raise money for cleanup efforts.  Vince Gill & Friends hosted a telethon that raised over $1.7 million for relief efforts.

In Music City’s darkest hour, its brightest stars won’t forget about it.

Many that aren’t in the area would like to see the pictures of the damage and cleanup.  Here are some Nashville flood photos (Associated Press)
