Lettuce Recall 2010 Adds Another Consumer Woe. You can’t give your kids medicine, diapers – and now you can’t make them eat healthy (if you live in certain areas)! A lettuce recall has been issued for 23 states and the District of Columbia after some lettuce distributed by Freshway Foods is believed to be the culprit behind a string of illnesses – some of them life threatening.

The illnesses are caused by E. Coli. The affected lettuce is shredded romaine lettuce with a use-by date of May 12 or earlier. The contamination can cause diarrhea or more serious complications that can cause your kidneys to bleed.

The lettuce was distributed to various delis in : Alabama, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

In addition, Grab and Go salads from Kroger used the affected lettuce.

In addition to the lettuce recall, there’s also a recall of Children’s medication and also possibly Pampers diapers in the near future, if the USCPSC finds something behind various claims that the Dry Max technology in Swaddlers and Cruisers causes chemical burns.
