American Idol 2010 Recap: 9th Season Male Contestants Perform for Judges. Simon, Ellen, Kara, and Randy got an earful last night when the Season 9 men performed for them live. It is the second half of the top 24 (find out the top 24 finalists here), and the first half – the women – performed last night (find out more on that here.)
Here’s a recap of the American Idol men finalists:
Casey James (Heaven, Bryan Adams): He didn’t get much respect from the judges. Ellen joked that Kara thought he was hot, and Kara and Randy hooked arms and swayed back and forth while he performed.
Andrew Garcia (Sugar We’re Going Down): Simon called the contestant’s performance “disappointing”
Lee Dewyze (Chasing Cars, Snow Patrol): Ellen said he was “screaming” when he hit some of the notes, Simon encouraged him to go “David Cook”, and Randy suggested that he cover “Kings of Leon.”
Joe Munoz: (You and I Both, Jason Mraz): This American Idol season 9 contestant was visibly nervous, and as Randy put it – his choice of song was not perfect.
Big Mike: (This Love, Maroon Five) Kara nicely said that his performance “wasn’t that great.”
Aaron Kelly (Here Comes Goodbye, Rascal Flatts): Kara claims that Idol “bootcamp” will make this performer get better and better every week (if he makes to the top 20!)
Tyler Grady: Some think that this singer needs to learn how to sing in key by the next time he performs.
Todrick Hall (Since You’ve Been Gone, Kelly Clarkson): Did he rearrange the song cleverly, or kill it? You decide.
Alex Lambert (Wonderful World, James Morrison): the judges think that he has potential, which could indicate he’s moving on.
John Park (God Bless the Child, Billie Holliday): Simon claimed his performance had zero emotion.
Tim Urban: After his performance, Simon said “’Tim, well look, congratulations for coming back. Having said that, we absolutely made the right decision the first time around by not putting you through, based on that performance.”
Jermaine Sellers (Get Here, Oleta Adams): he had an embarrassing encounter with the Idol musical director Michael Orland where he said “who’s Michael.” It was hard for him to defend himself on that snafu!
What do you think of the American Idol 2010 recap for Season 9? Who will stay and who will go? Do you see any potential Chris Daughterys or Adam Lamberts in the crowd?
