Arizona Immigration Law SB1070 2010 and Text Angers Aliens.  The newly signed Arizona Immigration law, titled SB1070, has angered aliens – both legal and illegal.  Some high profile foreigners such as Shakira have openly expressed anger about Arizona’s new law.

Shakira states that she’s worried about victims of domestic violence.  The Arizona Immigration law requires foreigners to have immigration status paperwork or documentation at all times in the event they are involved in a legal matter.  Law enforcement would have to verify someone’s status if, for instance, they were involved in a crime, pulled over, or involved in a domestic dispute.

The Latino singer says that women would then become afraid of calling the police over domestic violence because they would be fearful of what the government would do. She even pointed out that if the law was in effect right now, she would be detained and arrested in Arizona because she’s undocumented.

The anger rages on within the immigrant community.  Swastikas were smeared on windows of the capital building with refried beans.  Graffiti taints the sidewalks and angry individuals protest openly near the capital building.

The state of California also frowns on the state’s decision to pass the law, and some counties and municipalities have issued a boycott against Arizona.

On the other hand, there are many natural born Americans who are supportive of the law, citing increased crime rates and difficulties finding work because of undocumented workers as the main reasons that they do not want the law passed.
