Amanda Knox Parents and Oprah Discuss Case

Amanda Knox Parents and Oprah discuss case.  Amanda Knox was convicted of killing Meredith Kercher in an Italian court.  She was an American exchange student studying at a University in Italy, and she shared a flat with the victim and another female student.

The Knox trial has been highly controversial, due to procedural differences between the American and Italian court systems.  The jury was able to see various reports in the press, and many feel that the press was able to sway the jury.

Knox was given 26 years for her role in the crimes, and she’s currently working on an appeal.  Her family and friends have been working vigourously to get her story out there and maintain her innocence.

This was the subject on Oprah today.  Curt Knox, her father, said “She’s absolutely innocent. You go through a trial by media versus a trial inside the courtroom. Inside the courtroom, there is not the evidence to come up with a guilty verdict. It is so far past that to where she should be [found] innocent.”

The media portrayed Knox as a sex-crazed maniac.  There are also many other questionable circumstances in the case that are far too numerous to even begin to discuss.

While awaiting appeal, the young American girl is completing correspondence courses from the University of Washington.  She’s received a considerable amount of support here in the states.
